Was this the bottom?

I say yes. Violent reversal on expanding volume. Close back above 1100. Many leading stocks washed out during the session only to reverse much higher. I could continue...     I generally trade futures. But if I wanted to go long stock index, I would use SPY, DIA, QQQ, and IWM. There are also 9 select spiders for each SPX sector. Many traders use ETFs on drugs nowdays - double and tripple leveraged ETFs. Be careful with those.
